This burn thing is getting me down. I almost decided not to publish a post about it today because when I had my dressings changed this morning, it was necessary to bind yet another finger on my right hand. You should see me typing.
My burns are more painful every day, and there are still blisters popping up on flesh I thought was only slightly burned. Now, my right leg is bandaged from the top of my foot to my panty line. I have an appointment at a wound clinic tomorrow. It occurred to me that this is just not a burn, it is a chemical burn. The chemicals in the citronella candle surely added to the damage.
And the pain pills are not working. They are serving only to make me nauseated. Great. Pain and nausea, a nurse’s nightmare when treating patients. I guess the best I can say is that the nausea medicine makes me sleepy, and in my naps, I escape the pain for a while.
I feel as though I am burning from the inside out. My right middle finger was not blistered or even very red on Wednesday, but since then, a large painful blister has appeared. Places where my burns were drained are producing recurring blisters.
Could I whine any more?
But, as Sara Shepard is reported to have said, "Its not bragging if its true." Maybe it’s not whining if it really hurts.
(I’m as sick of this as you are).
Dozing off.....

Whine away. RANT! Rest. And know that there are MANY who's thoughts are with you. I'm sorry you're in so much pain...I've only ever had one chronic pain injury - months. Not fun at all. So RANT away for as long as you need us to listen!
Oh my dear friend, I am hoping for some relief for you. Maybe the wound clinic can help. Whine away!
hugs,
Linda
I am certainly not sick of it. You need the outlet. I just feel so bad for you that you burned yourself. You poor, poor thing.
Hell, I'd whine more if I were you.
Whine away ... still gonna listen.
Hey if you can't whine on your blog where can you whine, ha. Hopefully, when you go to the wound care center they will be able to give you some relief. Hang in there.
Oh wow! I just read the whole smoked ham story -- whine away! You've earned it!
Sleep, let the pain meds work. As a few others have commented, our thoughts are with you during this.
Oh my Lord! I just read the three posts and couldn't believe it. Please don't hunt around for blog material again - if doing so caused you to set fire to yourself then, evidently, you need to just write what comes in to your head - whine away! We really don't mind. I hope the burns heal quickly and you don't suffer too much over the coming weeks. There is surely a lesson for us all there...
So sorry to hear these burns are worse than you thought. What degree are they...Did they say?
I had a serious burn when I was young, and it took a month before it really began to heal. (Boiling water from my humidifier overturned and burned my arm.) It was a real drag, and I remember it vividly even though I was only 4.

Whine as much as you need to, CJ! And know that there are folks all over the globe who are wishing you a speedy recovery and sending virtual hugs.
I'm among those sending virtual hugs. But very gentle ones that don't actually touch anything that is feeling far too sensitive. I hope you will feel much better soon. Burns can be so horrible and I know it must be hurting a lot. So whine as loud and as long as you like if it makes you feel better. Gentle hugs...
